BNB, originally called Binance Coin, was introduced in July 2017 through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO). The launch preceded the opening of the Binance cryptocurrency exchange by 11 days.
Initial launch
Initial coin offering: In the ICO, 100 million BNB tokens were sold to the public at a price equivalent to about $0.15 per coin, raising $15 million in Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Initial platform: BNB was initially issued as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain before migrating to its own chains.
Founders: Binance was launched by co-founders Changpeng "CZ" Zhao and Yi
