Sector and Wage Insights (BLS Establishment Survey)
Healthcare added 31,000 jobs (below its 12-month average of 42,000).
Social assistance rose by 16,000, particularly in individual and family services.
Federal government lost 15,000 jobs, continuing a downward trend.
Mining, quarrying, and oil & gas extraction declined by 6,000.
Manufacturing lost 12,000 jobs and remains down 78,000 year-to-date.
Other sectors—including construction, retail, transportation, and professional services—showed little to no change.
Wages:
Average hourly earnings for private nonfarm employees rose $0.10 (0.3%) to $36.53.
Year-over-year increase: +3.7%.
Average weekly hours remained steady at 34.2 hours.
