The Process of Delisting
The delisting process will start at 04:00 UTC on September 11, 2025. Until that time, trading will continue as usual. Funding rates for the contracts will be calculated using the prices from the previous eight hours. After 04:00 UTC, funding rates will stop, and the next rate will be set to zero.
At 12:00 UTC, all 48 contracts will expire. Open positions will be automatically closed using the settlement prices, and all open orders will be canceled. Any profit or loss will be transferred to the user’s Bitcoin or Tether balance, depending on the contract type. No additional fees will be charged, and the contracts will be removed from the trading dashboard.

What are the Reasons?
The main reason why BitMEX is delisting these perpetuals is that there is not enough trading interest. Exchanges find it operationally inefficient to maintain contracts when the volumes of trading are low.
Reduced activity may also cause increased spreads, reduced liquidity, and increased risks to traders with positions. Delisting will provide a better trading experience as the resources are concentrated on more active and popular perpetuals.
Exchanges also take into consideration regulatory compliance and demand in the market when making decisions on what products to retain.
BitMEX plans to cut its products by eliminating those that are not performing well, to simplify its product, cut down on maintenance expenses, and offer a more liquid and competitive market to traders.
This is a proactive strategy that ensures that the exchange remains operational and that traders can access relevant and high-demand trading pairs.
What are Perpetual contracts?
It is also known as perpetual swaps. They are crypto derivatives that enable traders to bet on the price of an asset without having possession of it. Perpetuals, unlike traditional futures, do not have an expiry date, and can be traded continuously. Funding rates are used to keep the price aligned with the underlying asset, making them popular among active traders.
