The Economist today takes a risk and features the statement "What Brazil can teach America" on its cover. It states that the USA has become authoritarian under Trump.
The USA has shown itself to be a fragile democracy, dependent on the moral capacity of the elected president and lacking rules and institutions that preserve Individual Rights.
All of this is the opposite of what Brazil demonstrates to be: Alexandre de Moraes, for example, not only shows courage but has support in laws and institutions to investigate and punish those who threaten Democracy and the Rule of Law, without the dangerous compromises that occurred in the USA and have already destroyed its democracy.
