Few know, but the term altseason was born in forums in 2017, when Ethereum and other coins began to temporarily outperform Bitcoin in valuation. At the time, the market used “altcoins” in a somewhat pejorative way, as “alternative coins without value.” However, with the explosion of projects and the hype of ICOs, investors realized that there were specific cycles in which altcoins performed better than BTC. Thus, the idea of a “season” dedicated to them was born: the altseason. Today, the term has become part of the crypto vocabulary.
