Bitcoin and Ethereum: The Investment Grounds Gradually Lost by Ordinary People
In the current financial investment field, Bitcoin and Ethereum are two cryptocurrencies that are gaining significant attention. However, from a developmental perspective, they may gradually drift away from ordinary investors in the future, evolving into a realm exclusive to institutional players and even becoming an important component of national strategic reserves.
In recent years, the prices of Bitcoin and Ethereum have continued to rise, with predictions suggesting that in the coming years, Bitcoin could reach million-dollar levels, and Ethereum could also rise to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Citigroup's report on the outlook for the cryptocurrency market predicts that Bitcoin's price could reach $135,000 by the end of 2025, and in an optimistic scenario, it could soar to $199,000. Coinbase Global's CEO Brian Armstrong predicts that Bitcoin's price could reach $1 million by 2030. Such prices are unattainable for ordinary investors.
As the crypto market develops, the investment threshold continues to rise. From the perspective of public chain nodes, while Bitcoin's overall network computing power continues to hit new highs, the threshold for block producers is becoming increasingly high, and the mining industry is caught up in a chip technology war and energy competition; after Ethereum converted its consensus mechanism to a PoS mechanism, proposals to adjust the validator staking cap directly raised the investment threshold, making it difficult for ordinary people to achieve complete yield. Large financial institutions and companies are actively positioning themselves, with asset management giants like BlackRock and Fidelity dominating the market with strong capital and professional teams, while publicly traded companies and private enterprises are also incorporating crypto assets into their balance sheets, putting ordinary investors at a disadvantage in terms of information, capital, and risk tolerance.
Moreover, some countries have begun to incorporate Bitcoin and Ethereum into their strategic reserves. Trump announced the inclusion of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and four other cryptocurrencies into the U.S. cryptocurrency strategic reserve, with Bitcoin and Ethereum as core assets. This move signifies the importance placed at the national level and foreshadows a future where ordinary investors' participation in the market will decrease.
Ordinary investors facing the high thresholds and high risks of investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum should remain rational and cautious, making investment decisions only after fully understanding the relevant knowledge and their own risk tolerance.
