Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, has warned about a new form of scam targeting cryptocurrency investors. Scammers impersonate Binance customer support staff, calling to ask users to change their API settings under the guise of "security updates." In reality, this is a way for them to access accounts and withdraw money directly.
Necessary precautions
Binance asserts that they will never ask for passwords or security information over the phone.
The company recommends that users carefully control API access and always verify through official support channels if there are any doubts.
In addition, using two-factor authentication (2FA), Passkey, and strong security settings are considered the most effective measures to prevent risks.
Action when encountering suspicious situations
Binance recommends that after any suspicious calls, users should immediately revoke their API keys and temporarily freeze their accounts.
In the context of the increasingly developing cryptocurrency market, online scams have also risen.
"The most basic self-protection measure is to only use official communication channels and ignore any calls from outside," emphasized a representative of Binance.
