U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Latnik announced that the department will begin publishing key economic indicators, including GDP data, on the blockchain. According to him, the initiative will be the first step towards the large-scale implementation of the technology in federal structures, and later may also encompass other agencies. Latnik emphasized that blockchain will ensure the security and convenience of data dissemination.
Similar projects are already being implemented in other countries: Estonia uses blockchain for its e-health system, the European Union has created EBSI for cross-border public services, and California has moved millions of vehicle records to the blockchain
