When will new ETFs appear?

The SEC has over 70 applications for the launch of exchange-traded funds based on various cryptocurrencies. Previously, Bloomberg exchange analyst Eric Balchunas predicted a "summer of altcoin ETFs."

In July, the regulator relaxed rules for cryptocurrency investment products, proposing listing standards focused on derivative markets. Balchunas called this a "fairly significant event" as it paves the way for ETFs on about a dozen altcoins.

At the same time, the first exchange-traded fund based on Solana with staking — REX-Osprey Solana Staking ETF (SSK) — launched in the USA. Meanwhile, the SEC continues to postpone decisions on applications from 21Shares, Bitwise, and BlackRock, which are seeking to launch funds based on altcoins.

Balchunas and his colleague James Seyffart predict that new ETFs will be approved by the end of 2025. Most likely, these will be funds focused on Litecoin, Solana, and XRP.$SOL
