Introduction:
Zero-knowledge proofs have become the golden narrative of Web3, but is using them for cross-chain verification the absolute right choice? Lagrange's exploration is worth discussing.
It achieves cross-chain state confirmation through the generation and verification of ZK proofs, avoiding the need to trust third-party validators. This approach seems perfect, but don't forget that the threshold for ZK itself is extremely high. Whether it's the complexity of circuit design or the computational overhead of proof generation, it's not something that ordinary projects can easily bear.
In other words, the technology of @Lagrange Official may be the "optimal solution," but it is also the "most difficult solution to implement." If technologies like hardware acceleration and proof compression mature in the future, there will be huge benefits; but in the short term, it may be constrained by performance and cost, making it difficult to support large-scale commercialization.
On the other hand, the ZK narrative is becoming a bit crowded. How Lagrange can stand out in a sea of "ZK projects" without being misunderstood as just another ZK Rollup is the branding challenge it needs to solve.
