Is RaaS the endgame, or a transition? Opportunities and challenges of @Caldera Official
The narrative of RaaS is accelerating. Caldera is one of the first projects to productize 'Rollup as a Service', reducing the difficulty of launching chains from 'hell mode' to 'fool mode'. With just a few clicks to launch a chain, this feels like lighting a match for countless project teams.
But when we calm down and think, is RaaS really the endgame for L2? I believe Caldera's vision is worth looking forward to, but the challenges are equally significant.
Firstly, the low entry barrier will inevitably lead to 'chain proliferation'. In the future, there may be a large number of 'air chains' lacking real applications and value. This is a burden for users: how do they find what is truly valuable among hundreds or thousands of Rollups?
Secondly, competition is becoming increasingly fierce. Projects like AltLayer and Conduit are also positioning themselves in the RaaS space, each emphasizing different technological advantages. Caldera must run faster in standardization and ecological expansion to maintain its lead. Its collaboration with EigenLayer and EigenDA is a plus, but far from establishing a long-term moat.
Finally, there are concerns about regulation and compliance. As the number of chains increases, cross-border transactions, asset on-chain, and data circulation will touch the red lines of traditional financial regulations. For Caldera to become the 'infrastructure of the global value internet', it cannot avoid compliance.
Despite this, I still believe that @Caldera Official has opened up a brand new imaginative space. It shows us a possibility: the future Web3 world is not about 'one chain ruling them all', but 'ten thousand chains interconnected'. Caldera's mission is to become the engine of this network.
Is RaaS the endgame, or a transition? Perhaps time will tell. But what is certain is that Caldera has taken a key step for the industry.
