Core event: Gomes appears at the Bali crypto summit

WalletConnect founder Pedro Gomes recently attended the Coinfest Asia 2025 held in Bali. During this time, he engaged in in-depth interactions with WalletConnect community members and long-term supporters of WCT, further strengthening community ties.

The event is known as 'the largest cryptocurrency summit in the world', not only attracting practitioners from the global crypto field but also highlighting Bali's rising status as an important cryptocurrency event hub, reflecting the growing global interest and investment enthusiasm in the crypto ecosystem.

Future plans: Strengthening the Asian market, Japan trip on the agenda

Gomes also mentioned in his social media sharing that he is about to embark on a trip to Japan. This itinerary indicates that WalletConnect will continue to advance its strategy of 'expanding influence and global cooperation network', aligning closely with the broader trend of cryptocurrency adoption in the Asian region.

Bottom layer support: WCT token and long-term development mission

An important background to this dynamic is that WalletConnect has launched its native token WCT. This token provides security for the network through staking, reward mechanisms, and governance functions, marking a key step in WalletConnect's ecosystem enhancement.

This development stems from Gomes' long-term mission - to enhance the user experience of decentralized applications (dApps). As early as 2018, he received funding from the Ethereum Foundation to develop a protocol connecting crypto wallets with dApps, laying the foundation for today's WalletConnect ecosystem.
