Telegram founder recalls the French authorities' manhunt experience: still no evidence a year later
Ha Shilian heard the news that Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, recalled the incident of being detained in France a year ago. He stated that the French authorities have yet to find any evidence of wrongdoing on his part or that of Telegram. He criticized that arresting the CEO of a major platform based on user behavior is unprecedented and seems absurd both legally and logically. A year has passed, and there has been no substantial progress in the 'criminal investigation' against him, while he is required to return to France every 14 days and is unable to determine an appeal date. Durov was arrested on August 24, 2024, and he faces 12 charges, including crimes related to Telegram such as money laundering and the distribution of child abuse material. He is currently under formal investigation for these charges.
