According to PANews on August 25, the Block reported that Telegram founder Pavel Durov recalled the circumstances of his arrest by French authorities a year ago and claimed that the French authorities have yet to find any evidence of wrongdoing on his part. 'Arresting the CEO of a large platform because of user behavior is not only unprecedented but also absurd both legally and logically.' 'A year has passed, and the 'criminal investigation' against me still struggles to find any fault with me or Telegram.' 'One year after this strange arrest, I still have to return to France every 14 days, and there is no sight of an appeal date.'

Durov was arrested on August 24, 2024, and subsequently charged with 12 counts related to crimes facilitated by Telegram, ranging from money laundering to the distribution of child sexual abuse materials. Durov has officially been investigated for these charges.
