Yi He was born in 1986 in a teacher's family in a poor rural area of Sichuan Province, China. Her childhood was full of difficulties: the house had no stable electricity, had to use oil lamps, and water was carried from a distant well.
Her father passed away when she was just 9 years old, and from then on, Yi He had to help her family, even selling drinks in front of supermarkets to make a living.
