The National Congress of the Philippines seeks to approve a bill to create a reserve in #bitcoin with 10,000 units of the digital currency.
The Asian country's plan to acquire this digital asset is projected over five years. The idea is to buy 2,000 $BTC annually.
The project by Filipino legislators establishes that “the bitcoin reserve will be kept locked in a trust for at least 20 years.”
The congressman behind the initiative, Migz Villafuerte, believes that the strategic accumulation of assets like BTC serves to provide financial stability. Furthermore, he advocates for the urgent need for his country's Congress to draft new laws to ensure financial security.
With this, the idea championed by El Salvador, which currently accumulates 6,200 BTC, of adopting bitcoin as a store of value expands.
