**SWIFT tests Ripple and Hedera for cross-border payments**
The international system SWIFT has begun experiments with the integration of Ripple (XRP) and Hedera (HBAR) as part of its infrastructure modernization. Both assets comply with the ISO 20022 standard and can enhance the speed and efficiency of international transfers.
The testing focuses on Ripple ODL technology, which uses XRP for instant liquidity, and the Hedera hashgraph, known for its high throughput (up to 10,000 transactions/second) and low energy consumption. In comparison: SWIFT transfers can take up to 5 days and cost \$10–50, whereas XRP transactions are completed in 3–5 seconds and cost \$0.0002.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse stated that within 5 years, the XRP Ledger could handle up to 14% of SWIFT's global liquidity.
