Recently, I've seen some testing feedback that Chainbase's API call speed is generally under 1 second, while running a node by yourself usually takes 3-5 seconds. The difference isn't 'night and day', but in real-time applications, this level of delay will be noticeably perceived by users.
Looking at the costs again. Setting up nodes by yourself can cost tens of thousands of dollars just for hardware and bandwidth in a year, and you also need someone to maintain it. Chainbase charges based on usage, which significantly reduces pressure for startup teams using low traffic. This is crucial for projects that are not yet profitable.
These indicators suggest that Chainbase is more like a 'tool-based project', relying on services to retain users rather than gimmicks.
🤩 Question: Do you think development teams are more afraid of A. unstable performance or B. high costs?
