Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the countries of the Global South to support diplomatic efforts to push Russia to agree to end its war with Ukraine.

In a social media post following talks with South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa on Saturday, Zelensky emphasized that "the conflict must end" and "the killings and destruction must stop".

The Russian war economy is taking hits as the conflict with Ukraine continues.

The Ukrainian leader, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, said: "I have confirmed my readiness for any form of meeting with the President of Russia".

"However, we see that Moscow is once again trying to prolong everything. It is important for the Global South to send relevant signals and push Russia towards peace".
