Bitlayer Hits Major Milestone with BitVM Bridge on Bitcoin Mainnet

Bitlayer has successfully completed two live use cases of the BitVM Bridge on the Bitcoin mainnet—a big step forward for Bitcoin DeFi.

This achievement proves the bridge works securely and efficiently, and shows how Bitlayer’s partnerships with mining pools are solving a major challenge: handling non-standard transactions (NSTs), which are larger than Bitcoin’s usual limits.

Back on March 31st, Bitlayer first tested BitVM on a custom testnet called bitvmnet, where they had to tweak the Bitcoin Core software to support these larger NSTs. Now, that same issue has been solved on the real Bitcoin network.

Recently, Bitlayer teamed up with several mining pools focused on processing NSTs. Thanks to these partnerships, the first batch of live NSTs has already been handled successfully—based on real user activity.

One of the use cases even included two types of NSTs: an Assert transaction and a Disprove transaction, showing the full power of the BitVM Bridge and the strength of Bitlayer’s mining pool collaborations.
