Redefining the Ambitions and Realities of Bitcoin DeFi
I remember a few years ago when Bitcoin was still seen as the era of 'digital gold', everyone thought it was as stable as a mountain, but also too 'clunky', with slow transactions, high fees, and no easy way to handle smart contracts. At that time, I came across various Crypto bloggers on Twitter complaining about the limitations of Bitcoin; some said it was like an old elephant, safe but slow-moving; others were optimistic about Layer 2 solutions, which could make it as agile as a cheetah. In the blink of an eye, it’s now 2025.
This project has quietly risen, catching my eye. It is not a simple copy of Ethereum's Rollup model, but is based on BitVM technology, truly customizing an efficient and secure second-layer network for Bitcoin. In this article, I want to discuss the ins and outs of BitlayerLabs, combining some hot topics on Twitter, but more so my personal observations. After all, the Crypto world changes too quickly; who knows how the next bull market will be ignited by it?
