The birth of WalletConnect stems from a simple yet important idea — to allow any user to seamlessly access the Web3 world using their wallet on any device. Today, this idea has evolved into a standard interaction bridge for thousands of Dapps and wallets worldwide, with WCT gradually establishing the "connection layer" infrastructure for Web3.

Compared to traditional "wallet-as-a-service" solutions, WalletConnect does not host user data; instead, it enables peer-to-peer connections through encrypted channels. In the v2 protocol, it introduced a "namespace" architecture, making multi-chain interactions more orderly; it also supports multi-account sessions and persistent connections, effectively solving the issues of disconnection and reconnection.

Moreover, WalletConnect has expanded communication from "function docking" to "information interaction." The launched Chat and Push Protocols enable users to communicate on-chain and off-chain messages between protocols and wallets, bringing new gameplay to applications like DeFi, NFTs, and DAOs. For example, an NFT project can proactively notify users about airdrops via Push without the need to exit the wallet page.

As the token carrier of the WalletConnect ecosystem, WCT will take on functions such as message authorization verification, network fee payments, and governance voting in the future. The project team plans to gradually introduce token economics during the mainnet switch and protocol decentralization process, potentially becoming the most promising value capture in communication layer protocols. #WalletConnect @WalletConnect $WCT
