Meta suspends hiring for AI department and undergoes organizational restructuring
According to reports from insiders, Meta Platforms has suspended hiring in its artificial intelligence department. Over the past few months, the company has hired more than 50 AI researchers and engineers. This hiring freeze took effect last week, while the department is undergoing a broader reorganization, prohibiting current employees from moving across teams within the department. The duration of the hiring freeze has not yet been communicated internally. Insiders noted that there may be exceptions for external hiring, but it requires approval from Meta's Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, Alexandr Wang. A spokesperson for Meta confirmed the hiring freeze, stating that it is 'basic organizational planning: a solid structure will be established for our new superintelligent project once personnel are in place, along with annual budgeting and planning work.'
