Towns Protocol’s Private Blockchain Design for Social Networks
Towns Protocol's Towns Chain is a Layer 2 solution built using the OP-Stack. The blockchain optimizes liveliness by storing message read and write permissions on Base and delivers data to thousands of participants within seconds. This architecture provides a user experience equivalent to the speed of traditional centralized social networks while not compromising on chain security.
Flow nodes process message loads in parallel, creating mini-blocks to distribute data consistently. Block headers are recorded in the Towns Chain for consensus and then sent to the Ethereum main network in bulk. This reduces transaction costs, increases performance, and chains inter-blockchain security.
The modular structure of the blockchain is managed by an upgradable diamond pattern. Thanks to facets, code snippets are updated without unnecessary redistribution. However, each Space owner may refuse to participate in upgrades, thus maintaining full control for asset holders.
Ownership, Membership, and Reputation Structure of Towns Chain
When a Space is created in Towns Chain, the founder is given a unique ownership token according to the ERC-721 standard. This token represents all management and revenue rights of that Space and can be transferred to other wallets. Revenues are directly transferred to the contract managed by the ownership token, keeping fund control within the blockchain.
