Golden Finance reports that in just over 18 months, North Korean hackers, including the notorious 'Lazarus' group, have stolen more than $1.75 billion worth of cryptocurrencies using the same 'hijacked multisig' technique. During the same period, this figure far exceeds all other losses in the field. However, a potential solution may exist, and it is simpler than people think. Senior security researcher Daniel Von Fange (formerly of Origin Protocol) posted a message on social platform X suggesting that an additional step could be added to the typical multisig workflow. This change would insert an unexpectedly simple 'sanity check' between the signing and execution phases for any approved operation, for final approval.
