How to judge a person's cognition
First, look at their attitude towards life and death. The inquiry into life and death can be seen as a philosophical response. Therefore, to understand the level of a person's cognition, ask about their openness; even if they cannot transcend, they can still face death without fear or avoidance. No one is exempt from this.
Second, look at how they handle human relationships. Human relationships are the most complex in society, often appearing unrelated to things like fame and profit, but upon deeper examination, they are still the most troublesome. Thus, a person's attitude towards human relationships reveals much about their social sentiments, with the lowest being indifferent to feelings. The so-called 'transcending feelings' refers to those whose cognitive level reaches the essence and do not wish to entangle themselves too much with others. Some even isolate themselves from the world.
Next is valuing feelings, which refers to those who value loyalty and righteousness, and give to others without expecting anything in return. Such individuals are extremely rare, for they at least recognize the greatest treasures of the human world.
The lowest, which is being indifferent to feelings, consists of those selfish and vain individuals who view human relationships as external objects of profit and obligation, busily pursuing them; they are the lowest tier among people.
