The Hybrid Consensus for Speed and Security

To achieve its high performance targets without compromising on security, Solayer Chain employs a hybrid Proof-of-Authority-and-Stake (PoAS) consensus protocol. This novel approach combines the speed of a centralized sequencer with the decentralized security of a stake-based validation system. Transactions are first speculatively executed and sorted by a small cluster of trusted entities (the Proof-of-Authority). This allows for near-instantaneous ordering and a dramatic reduction in latency.Once the transactions are batched into a "shard," they are then propagated to a global network of validators who secure the network through a Proof-of-Stake mechanism. These validators vote to finalize the shard, ensuring that the state changes are secure and resistant to malicious attacks. This dual-layered consensus provides a perfect balance: the Proof-of-Authority component ensures high speed and low latency, while the Proof-of-Stake component guarantees the security and decentralization of the network. This hybrid model is a key differentiator for Solayer, as it solves the problem of high latency and low throughput that is often associated with purely decentralized consensus mechanisms. By leveraging the efficiency of a centralized sequencer for ordering and the security of a distributed network for finalization, Solayer provides a blockchain that is both fast and secure.
