Ethereum TVL Nears Record High, Just 16% Below All-Time High
Ethereum's Total Value Locked (TVL) in decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols has surged to around $91.5 billion in August 2025, reaching its highest levels since late 2021. This figure is about 16% short of Ethereum’s all-time high TVL near $108.7 billion recorded in November 2021. The increase reflects strong staking activity, expanding Layer 2 scalability solutions, and heightened institutional adoption fueled by ETF inflows and growing usage across DeFi, NFTs, and real-world assets sectors.
