The TIA token is the native currency of the Celestia blockchain network, which is the first modular blockchain network. It aims to separate transaction execution tasks from consensus tasks to achieve better scalability and higher efficiency. The TIA token is used to pay for data publishing fees (“blobspace”) within the network, and for participating in network governance and security through staking. Since its launch in October 2023, TIA has lost more than 90% of its value due to large token unlocks. Nevertheless, Celestia continues to support innovation by simplifying the launch of specialized blockchain chains and expanding the capabilities of building advanced decentralized applications.
