Trump urged Zelensky to "make a deal" with Russia, calling Moscow a "very great power".

In an interview following the summit after his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, President Donald Trump advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate directly with Russia, stating: "Russia is a very great power. And Ukraine is not."

Trump described his nearly three-hour meeting with Putin as "extremely productive," but confirmed that no concrete agreement had been reached regarding the war in Ukraine. He suggested that Ukraine take the initiative to negotiate a peace deal.

The comments drew criticism from Ukrainian officials, who insist that any discussions must respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. President Zelensky affirmed Ukraine's willingness to negotiate, but any agreement must protect the nation's borders.
