The Kremlin said on Saturday that U.S. Air Force fighter jets flew alongside President Vladimir Putin’s plane as it left Alaska and headed back to Moscow after his meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Russian news outlets, including RT, reported that six jets escorted Putin for part of the trip.
Some reports say the jets might have been F-35s instead of F-22s.
U.S. officials haven’t yet confirmed what kind of jets were used or how many.
