The US State Department announced a reward of $6 million for information that would lead to the arrest of the leaders of the Russian cryptocurrency exchange Garantex. In particular, $5 million is offered for information about Russian citizen Alexander Mira Serdu, who is considered one of the key leaders of the exchange, and another $1 million for information about other top executives. This was reported on the official website of the State Department.

Garantex was sanctioned by the US in April 2022 due to accusations of money laundering, facilitating cybercrime, and violating sanctions. According to US authorities, from April 2019 to March 2025, the exchange processed cryptocurrency transactions totaling $96 billion, some of which are linked to illegal activities, including operations of the hacker group Conti and the darknet market Hydra.

In 2025, the USA intensified pressure on Garantex: in March, the exchange's administrator was arrested in India and assets worth $25 million were seized. This move reflects the determination of the US administration to combat the illegal use of cryptocurrencies.
