#CreatorPad 🦌 Reindeer herders in Lapland, Finland, have started spraying the antlers of their reindeer with reflective paint to help drivers see them in the dark.

The special spray was tested on their fur and horns to see how it performs in different weather conditions, according to Finnish national broadcaster YLE.

According to the Finnish Institute of Wildlife and Fisheries Research, up to 4,000 reindeer are lost in traffic accidents in Finland each year. Most incidents occur during the dark months of November and December, when roads are prone to freezing, as reported by the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

Other media, such as Designboom, report that in addition to the spray, other alternatives have started to be used, given that the paint wore off quickly due to weather conditions. A mobile application was chosen so that drivers can receive alerts when a sighting of reindeer near the road is reported.
