Scott Bessent from the U.S. Treasury backtracks: Bitcoin purchases will still be possible
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent clarified that they are still studying neutral budgetary ways to purchase Bitcoin, following previous comments that affected the cryptocurrency market.
He stated that his department continues to explore ways to acquire Bitcoin in a budget-neutral manner for the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
This is in contrast to his recent statements suggesting that the plan was shelved, which caused a massive sell-off of Bitcoin.
“The Treasury is committed to exploring budget-neutral avenues to acquire more Bitcoin, expand the reserve, and fulfill the President's promise to make the United States the 'world superpower of Bitcoin',” he clarified.
