Wellgistics Health Inc. (Nasdaq: WGRX) has launched its XRP Implementation Program, powered by Ripple Labs, introducing blockchain-based payments to the prescription drug sector for the first time. The initiative aims to give independent pharmacies near-instant settlements, reduced transaction costs, and direct, intermediary-free transfers.

Backed by RxERP, a serialized pharmaceutical ecommerce and ERP platform, the program handles onboarding, transaction execution, and compliance oversight. Wellgistics highlights that the XRP Ledger’s speed and scalability fit the pharmaceutical supply chain’s demands, helping pharmacies boost liquidity, bypass banking delays, and securely track payments.
The current rollout targets payments to distributors, with a long-term vision of building a fully frictionless pharmacy payment ecosystem. The system meets or exceeds healthcare and financial regulatory standards, including HIPAA and AML, ensuring secure, traceable transactions while protecting sensitive data. Future plans involve onboarding pharmaceutical manufacturers and launching direct-to-patient programs with physician oversight.
What’s your take – Will this large-scale XRP integration revolutionize pharmaceutical payments, or will skepticism about blockchain in healthcare slow its adoption?
