What is Bitlayer (BTR)?

Bitlayer is a Layer-2 protocol built on BitVM technology, aiming to bring the strength of Bitcoin's security to a programmable and scalable level (DeFi, dApps), compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It acts as a security bridge, enabling smart contracts to run and assets to be transferred between Bitcoin and other APIs without losing Bitcoin's inherent security. The BTR token is the ecosystem token and is used for governance, rewards, and to drive platform growth.

1. Transforming Bitcoin into a scalable and widely used DeFi platform

Bitlayer enables the implementation of complex and intelligent DeFi applications on top of the Bitcoin network while maintaining its security and decentralized foundation, supported by compatibility with the EVM.

2. Powerful advanced and secondary technologies (PoS, Rollup, Bridges, BitVM Bridge)

The first phase launched an EVM-compatible PoS network, later establishing the Bitcoin rollup architecture via BitVM, with reliable bridges supporting decentralized asset transfers.

3. BTR, a versatile token within the system with progressive incentives

BTR is used for governance, staking, and voting on transactions and amendments within the platform. Additionally, the "Fee Switch" feature allows the community to activate a portion of the protocol's revenue to be allocated to rewards or token buybacks.

4. Massive financial support and extensive partnerships confirm confidence.

The project has raised over $25 million in funding through Seed and Series A rounds, with participation from major institutions such as Polychain Capital, Framework Ventures, Franklin Templeton, OKX Ventures, and more.

5. Extensive ecosystem activity with strong rewards for developers and users.

The platform launched a series of airdrops worth up to $20 million, as part of dApp ranking competitions that reward active projects in the ecosystem. It also began providing incentive messages to developers through Bitlayer Gems, which are converted into BTR.
