🇷🇺 🇺🇸 According to an investigative report obtained by agencies and two informed individuals, hackers linked to the Russian government have long been infiltrated into the electronic court record system of the United States, stealing sensitive court documents that had been explicitly sealed by judges. This intrusion analysis report shows that the attackers obtained information that should have been protected for years. They executed the intrusion by stealing user credentials and exploiting security vulnerabilities in outdated servers of the federal judicial system, specifically targeting sealed records. Although the report does not clearly identify the attackers, investigators found evidence indicating that the hackers were supported by the Russian government. It is still unclear when the hackers initially breached the system and when the judicial system detected anomalies. One source stated that the Department of Justice had engaged a cybersecurity company last fall to help manage the situation.
