🚗 Tensor Unveils First Self-Driving Car for Private Buyers
Silicon Valley startup Tensor, formerly known as AutoX, has revealed a new electric car called the Robocar. It’s fully self-driving (Level 4), meaning it can drive itself without human help in certain areas.
The car has:
- Over 100 sensors (37 cameras, 5 lidars, 11 radars)
- A smart driving system built by Tensor
- A steering wheel and pedals that hide away when self-driving is on
- A privacy mode to limit data sharing
Vietnamese carmaker Vinfast will build it, and Tensor plans to start shipping in late 2026. Price hasn’t been announced, but it will cost more than luxury EVs like the Lucid Air.
Unlike other companies like Waymo and Tesla that focus on robotaxi services, Tensor wants to sell directly to buyers. They believe rich tech lovers will pay more for hands-free driving and better privacy.
