Real World Assets (RWA)

Tokenization is the process of transforming real-world assets (RWAs) into digital representations on the blockchain, facilitating their management and trading. This procedure involves an entity responsible for assessing the asset, creating the digital record through smart contracts, and managing both the underlying assets and any payments to the token holders.

RWAs are 100% backed, meaning they have a full reserve guarantee, ensuring that each issued cryptocurrency has an intrinsic value directly linked to the physical asset it represents. The variety of RWAs is broad, including physical assets such as real estate and artworks, as well as intangible assets like copyrights, royalties, and patents.

The RWA segment is expected to reach $600 billion by 2030, according to a study by the Boston Consulting Group, a growth of 50 times compared to the total in 2024. The report indicates that demand for tokenized funds is increasing, with estimates that RWA assets could represent 1% of global mutual funds and ETFs.
