Bitlayer is a Bitcoin Layer-2 network designed to add smart contract capabilities while preserving Bitcoin’s security. Using the BitVM framework, it enables Turing-complete computation off-chain, avoiding changes to Bitcoin’s base layer. Fully EVM-compatible, Bitlayer allows Ethereum dApps to migrate seamlessly. It combines zero-knowledge proofs for efficiency and privacy with optimistic rollups and fraud-proofs for a secure, trustless BTC bridge. Funded by top investors, Bitlayer launched Mainnet-V1 in April 2024, focusing on scalable, fast, and low-cost transactions.
