Ethereum founder returns to the billionaire club after ETH price surge
Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has regained his billionaire status after the cryptocurrency's price reached a new 2025 peak of $4,332, according to Arkham data.
Buterin first achieved this status in May 2021, at the age of 27, when the price of Ethereum soared to record highs, later reaching $4,868 in November of the same year.
However, the 2022 market crash cost him billions, with the price of ETH plummeting by more than 80%.
Today, with Ethereum trading around $4,172, his massive pre-mining holdings have once again become the primary source of his wealth, alongside his reputation as a philanthropist, having previously donated over $1 billion in SHIB tokens to the CryptoRelief Fund.
In the crypto world's billionaire scene, Satoshi Nakamoto remains at the top, followed by Binance founder CZ with a fortune of $90 billion, and then Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong with $15 billion.
