U.S. & Global Task Force Dismantles Russian Ransomware Network 🚔💻
On July 24, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice, in coordination with international law enforcement, executed a joint strike against a Russian ransomware syndicate. The operation seized 4 servers, 9 domains, and roughly $1M in Bitcoin.
The crackdown hit the BlackSuit and Royal ransomware groups, responsible for extorting over $500M since 2022 — including $370M in illicit profits. Among the recovered assets was a $1.45M BTC ransom paid in April 2023.
Officials call it a major blow to the group’s infrastructure, with more arrests, charges, and asset seizures expected. 🚨
