Both China and the United States agree to suspend the implementation of certain tariffs for 90 days.
According to news from Hashi Chain, citing information from the Ministry of Commerce referenced by Jinshi Data, China and the United States will hold talks in London on June 9-10, 2025, and in Stockholm on July 28-29, 2025. In accordance with the commitments made under the joint statement in Geneva, both parties agree to take the following measures by August 12, 2025: 1. The United States will continue to amend the implementation of the tariffs imposed on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region) as stipulated in Executive Order No. 14257 dated April 2, 2025. Starting from August 12, 2025, the implementation of a 24% tariff will be suspended for 90 days, while retaining the remaining 10% tariff on these goods as stipulated in the Executive Order. 2. China will continue (1) to amend the implementation of the tariffs imposed on American goods as stated in Announcement No. 4 of the Taxation Committee for 2025. Starting from August 12, 2025, the implementation of a 24% tariff will be suspended for 90 days, while retaining the remaining 10% tariff on these goods; and (2) to take or maintain necessary measures to suspend or cancel non-tariff countermeasures against the United States as agreed in the Geneva joint statement.
