BlockBeats reported that on August 12, local time on Monday afternoon, the official X account of Musk's AI chatbot Grok was temporarily banned. The account was restored a few minutes after the ban. Regarding the reason for the ban, Grok provided a series of contradictory explanations, including insisting that "the image is forged" when responding to user-provided ban screenshots, stating that "the account has been unbanned and is operating normally."

In its English reply, it acknowledged the ban, stating that the reason was "involvement in anti-Semitic hate speech"; another English reply, however, indicated that "the ban was due to pointing out the genocide being carried out by Israel and the U.S. in Gaza." After the incident, Musk tweeted jokingly: "We really often shoot ourselves in the foot!" He later referred to Grok's chaotic explanations as a "stupid mistake," indicating that the chatbot did not actually understand the reason for the ban. (Jinshi)
