Bitlayer Unleashes Bitcoin DeFi with its Trust-Minimized BitVM Bridge.
Bitlayer has officially launched its BitVM Bridge on mainnet—a trust-minimized solution that unlocks native Bitcoin liquidity for DeFi. Through a smart contract, users deposit BTC into escrow and receive YBTC (Peg-BTC), facilitating seamless interactions with smart-contract platforms—all without altering Bitcoin’s core layer.
This bridge employs an innovative “front-and-reclaim” model: third-party brokers provide fast withdrawal access (within about an hour), while the system preserves security through a seven-day fraud-proof challenge window.
In addition, Date-July 2025 mark the Summer Launch 2025 event, where Bitlayer revealed the BitVM Bridge mainnet, the Bitlayer Network V2 Whitepaper, and a sneak peek of V3 Architecture—a milestone in building the “Ultimate Bitcoin DeFi Infrastructure”.
