Ethereum developer reportedly arrested in Turkey for alleged misuse of the network
An independent core developer from Argentina, known for his work on zero-knowledge (ZK) technology and Ethereum infrastructure, recounted the incident on X. According to him, local authorities accused him of facilitating the exploitation of the Ethereum network – an allegation he vehemently contests.
In his messages, intern Fede emphasized that he and his team are solely focused on infrastructure development and have never engaged in malicious activities. He expressed willingness to work with authorities to clarify the situation.
Despite the detention, the developer stated that he was treated with respect: he was taken to a separate room and provided with food. He also mentioned plans to travel to Europe on a private jet with his team of lawyers to officially present his defense.
In addition to his work on Ethereum, the developer had previously expressed appreciation for ZK technology and mentioned recent outreach from members of the Solana community asking for help.
The situation has sparked speculation in Ethereum and Solana circles, many of whom are awaiting further details about the nature of the accusations and their potential impact on the developers' current projects.
