🟠 5 Years Later: Strategy Holds 3% of All Bitcoin and MSTR Stock Skyrockets 2,600%
It’s been five years since MicroStrategy’s first Bitcoin purchase, and in that time, the company has accumulated 3% of all existing BTC, while its stock price has soared by 2,600%.
On August 11, 2020, Michael Saylor’s company — now rebranded as Strategy — made its first Bitcoin buy, acquiring 21,454 BTC for $250 million. At the time, Bitcoin was trading around $12,000, and the company’s stock (MSTR) was about $14.
Fast forward five years: Bitcoin now trades above $122,000, and MSTR shares are worth around $400. Strategy currently holds 628,791 BTC, roughly 3% of the total supply. Since 2020, the company has invested $46.08 billion into Bitcoin, with an average purchase price of $73,277 per coin.
