#Bitlayer Social Engineering
Social engineering is one of the most common ways that scammers deceive users into connecting their wallets to harmful DApps, through psychological manipulation instead of technical hacking.
Impersonation: Scammers impersonate representatives of reputable platforms or projects, mimicking logos, names, and even copying entire community groups on Telegram, Discord, or Twitter to make themselves appear legitimate.
Building Trust: Scammers reach out through private messages or within groups to offer unsolicited 'help' and gain the victim's trust.
Creating a Sense of Urgency and Quick Profit: They promote limited offers such as 'special launch', 'airdrop', or 'insider opportunity' in a high-yield DApp, pushing the victim to act quickly.
The Trap: The fake DApp is programmed to withdraw funds as soon as approved, or grants the scammer permanent access to the wallet.
