"Code can scale. Empathy must too." - @CZ

Since October 2024, immediately following a four-month incarceration, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) co-founder of Binance launched a deeply personal philanthropic initiative that has already transformed the lives of over 69,360 people across Sudan, Kenya, Thailand, and Myanmar.

Deep Impact Across Four Nations

Sudan: Battling Famine in Crisis Zones

In war-ravaged South Kordofan, CZ’s funding helped establish 10 Emergency Response Rooms (ERRs). These community-led hubs, operated by local volunteers, deliver food, medical aid, and essential care to displaced families and vulnerable populations. So far, 33,200 individuals and 6,340 families have been helped through this life-saving effort.

Kenya: A Lifeline for Children

At the Nyumbani Children’s Home, every child under this effort has achieved undetectable viral levels of HIV, with zero deaths, no drug resistance, and no progression to advanced disease. Beyond providing medication, the support extended to nutrition, counseling, and holistic care giving these children renewed hope, the ability to attend school, and a chance to simply be kids again.

Kenya (TB Frontlines): Reclaiming Lives

Partnering with local organization Uta Bora, CZ supported 55 TB champions to tackle tuberculosis across 13 sub-counties. This initiative helped transform the life of Ashley, an 18-year-old orphan with HIV who had dropped treatment and lost hope. Thanks to renewed care, Ashley began treatment and emerged as a vocal advocate against stigma.

Another highlight is Bianca, a toddler who went from a fragile 6 kg to a robust 11.8 kg thanks to nutritional support organized by TB champions. Overall, 1,048 sacks of rice, 104.5 sacks of yellow peas, and 267 packs of salt were distributed; 29 transport trips ensured delivery to remote areas; 3,144 individuals received steady food support.

Thailand & Myanmar: Sustaining Health Amid Refuge

Funding helped revive healthcare in seven refugee camps across Northern Thailand and Myanmar. When a local clinic closed unexpectedly, CZ’s support ensured 40 patients were safely transported for ongoing treatment, enabling 15 critical surgeries. Among them was Eh, struck by dual vision and heart complications now, with proper care, she’s on a path to recovery.

Stories That Put Faces to the Numbers

Just recently, CZ received a message accompanied by a short video:

"Hi I wanted to share a short video from two patients who wanted to personally thank CZ for the difference he has made in their lives.

One is a woman who had life-saving heart valve surgery after years of struggling to breathe and walk far.

The other is a 17-year-old young man who couldn’t open his mouth more than a small gap because of severe jaw disease he couldn’t speak clearly or eat properly. After surgery in Chiang Mai, he can open his mouth freely now and share his voice again.

This support didn’t just give them treatment it gave them back their health, dignity, and hope."

In CZ’s own words:

“I didn’t choose or meet the two in the videos. The work is done by the charity organizations shown in the video. Every little bit helps.”

Transforming Data into Humanity

  • Scale in Action: Over 69,360 lives impacted across four countries.

  • Health and Nutrition: Life-saving surgeries, HIV care, TB recovery, and food security.

  • Community Focused: Empowering local volunteers and organizations to lead resilience efforts.

  • Hope Restored: Stories like those of Ashley, Bianca, Eh, and the patients in Thailand show that this is not just aid it’s restoration of dignity and life.

Moving Forward

@CZ ’s approach goes beyond charity headlines it’s targeted, data-backed, and deeply personal in its impact. While more donations and stories will be revealed in time, the current results speak volumes: real people, real change, and a reminder that every little bit truly helps.
