Top 100 Holders Amass Nearly 1 Million Bitcoin Worth $118 Billion
A new report shows that the 100 biggest companies and institutions holding Bitcoin now control almost 1 million coins. At today’s prices, that’s worth around $118 billion. This shows that Bitcoin is becoming more concentrated in the hands of a few large players, which could affect how easily people can trade it and who has the most influence over the market.
One of the biggest holders is Tether Holdings, the company behind the USDT stablecoin. Its CEO, Paolo Ardoino, said Tether now owns over 100,000 Bitcoins. This makes Tether one of the top 40 holders of gold and one of the top 18 holders of U.S. government bonds. Ardoino said the company is buying Bitcoin to diversify the assets that support USDT.
This trend shows that more companies and investment firms are adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets. While this supports Bitcoin’s role as a speculative store of value, it also means that ownership is becoming more concentrated among a small group.
